Chris Moeller of Kode 54 has made a universal MIDI file converter for older MIDI formats (HMI, MDS, etc.). It handles RIFF MIDI, MDS, HMP, HMI, XMI, MUS, LDS, GMF. Here it is: 2mid.exe.
